	Abstract: In 1980, John Searle published a paper, entitled « Minds, brains and programs », in which he proposed a thought experiment which aimed to demonstrate that a non-biological machine could not, in any acceptable sense of the term, be said to understand or to think. This experiment consisted, very roughly, in supposing that an English speaking human being, Searle for instance, was shut in a room with an instruction book which allowed him to appropriately react in Chinese to signs given in Chinese, i.e. in a language and alphabet unknown to him. This thought experiment, which is obviously opposed to the (empirical) test proposed by Turing, has been widely discussed. This paper will be devoted, in its first part, to discuss Searle's paper relative to Turing's paper. This discussion will lead to the conclusion that Turing test is still valid, pace Searle's argument. I will then develop a series of argument to show that if Turing test was once successfully passed by a computer, the system used would have to incorporate a modicum of pragmatic mechanisms. ; En 1980, John Searle publia un article, intitulé “Minds, brains and programs”, dans lequel il proposait une Gedankenexperiment, une expérience de pensée, supposée prouver qu'une machine non-biologique ne pouvait pas être dite, en un sens acceptable de ce terme, comprendre ou penser. Cette expérience consistait, très grossièrement, à supposer qu'un être humain anglophone, John Searle par exemple, était enfermé dans une pièce avec un manuel d'instruction qui lui permettait de réagir de façon appropriée et en chinois, à des signes donnés en chinois, c'est-à-dire dans une langue et avec un alphabet qui lui soient inconnus. Cette expérience de pensée, qui s'oppose bien évidemment au test (empirique) de Turing, a donné lieu à de nombreuses discussions. Cet article sera consacré, dans sa première partie, à discuter l'article de Searle, relativement à celui de Turing. Cette discussion amènera à la conclusion selon lequel le test de Turing reste valide, malgré l'argumentation de Searle. Je développerai, ensuite, une série d'arguments pour montrer que, si le test de Turing était un jour réussi par un système informatique quelconque, ce système devrait intégrer une part non négligeable de pragmatique.
